My Apple iMac Core Duo has been having constant Wi-Fi problems ever since upgrading to Apple's latest OS X 10.4.8. My Wi-Fi connection drops unexpectedly and refuses to come back until the system is rebooted. Even after a reboot, the Wi-Fi only returns after the access-point is manually re-selected.
Needless to say, this makes using the iMac completely unacceptable.
Interestedly, the MacBook Pro does not have the same problem.
Totally unacceptable lack of quality control, and not something I have come to expect from Apple.

I also have a 20" Core Duo iMac (the one that came out last January) and have not experienced this particular problem with 10.4.8. Out of curiosity, you have installed the AirPort Updates that came out a week or so ago, correct?
Is there any interesting information in your console.log or system.log? (I'm sure you know, but just in case: open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app)

I have all of the updates installed. My MacBook Pro works fine, my iMac G5 works fine, my Mac mini (intel) works fine, the only one with problems is the iMac Core Duo.
The log files are clean - nothing significant in there.
I will spend the time today debugging this, or off to the Apple store we go.

Actually the MacBook Pro does have a problem with WIFI connections!
Ever since I updated to 10.4.8 I have experienced my WIFI connection dropping constantly and now not at all!
The problem doesn't occur with the airport extreme but it does with my Zyxel connection which I use Monday-Friday.
